Dark Souls 2 video makes a case for the PC port
A side-by-side comparison video for Dark Souls 2 shows just how much better the PC version looks.
Dark Souls 2 is preparing to release on PC, with enough graphical options to make console players jealous. Suffice to say it will look better, but how much better? A side-by-side comparison video lets you answer that question with your own eyeballs.
The comparison video from IGN keeps the camera angles and characters almost identical in every shot, so you can get a proper appreciation for the visual fidelity. Check it out below and give yourself a little pat on the back for your patience, seeing as it looks like you'll be rewarded for it with a nicer looking game. The PC version is due April 25.

framerate at 60 on the pc has a huge impact on gameplay. 30 feels already sluggish but it would drop into boderline unplayable in areas light blight town or when fighting sif on ps3. resolution and things like downsampling and ssoa/hbao made the game look immensely better.
what you are referring to might be the initial build the had shown which had different lighting and much more detailed architecture until the noticed that the game was completely unplayable in the same way blightown was. they had to reverse it but had already made a huge deal about the supposed new engine and new lighting system. so people though it was the equivalent of bullshots. -

technically speaking ds is ancient but you can do a few things on pc with ds fix to make it prettier than the standard options implemented in ds2 . look for comparison here https://secure.flickr.com/photos/15539352@N02/sets/72157634774669900/

Is there a way to lock Dark Souls 2 (PC) to 30fps?
So I'm not actually joking or something here, I've played 85 hours of DS1 at 30fps (for all kinds of reasons ok) and now that I've been loaned a card capable of 60, I found it gross, it just looked wrong, like one of those 200 hz TVs interpolating frames.
There's a couple of other reasons I'd prefer 30 too.-
Also the difference from PS3 to PC is pretty terrible in that video. The resolution is obviously much better on PC but the difference in lighting, effects, even view distance - simply doesn't exist.
I'd take a guess the DSFix people will be taking a crack at the files to see if they can't make the PC version look a lot better than it does. I know a properly mod'd Dark Souls 1 can look quite different from stock and honestly -possibly better than Dark Souls 2 looks in that footage.-

Well not just that, because I tried that now that someone loaned me this beef card - I believe there's some texture packs they are using too.
The other problem with Dark Souls 2, and I'm TRYING to stay positive but the level design / world - in almost every screenshot or video looks vastly blander than DS1 - just big big open flat spaces. :/
Anyhow, DS's weakest point seems to be the lighting, shadows and shader stuff or whatever it is - both 1 and 2.

I was skeptical because the original Miyazaki had moved on but its become my favorite of the series especially the co-op and PVP aspects. The art design is different and in my opinion not quite as good as the first two but everything else is fantastic. I just finished NG++ and am about to move to NG+++.
