The free-to-play shooter Warface has reached the milestone of 25 million registered users, Crytek has announced.
Free-to-play shooter Warface has hit 25 million registered users, Crytek has announced. The impressive number comes mostly from the worldwide figures for the PC version, which began rolling out in 2012. The Xbox 360 version just recently launched its beta.
Warface is spearheading a new effort from Crytek to move into free-to-play, with the long-term goal of becoming entirely F2P-based. The PC version has continued to get fairly regular updates throughout its nearly two years on the market so far.
“It is a fantastic achievement for our franchise and for our teams, and we'd like to thank Warface players everywhere for their support.” said Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli, in the announcement. “Warface is part of our games-as-service model, which means the game thrives off and revolves around our community. We look forward to delivering more of the great gameplay experiences that they have come to expect, and can promise the growing ranks of Warface fans that the franchise still has lots of surprises in store."
