The battle between garden life and the undead is about to venture into the future. Plants vs. Zombies 2 will receive the long-teased Far Future update this Thursday, which will add a new future-themed world map, along with eight new plants and ten new varieties of zombies.

EA's blog gives a brief glimpse into some of the new units set to be included with PvZ2's next major update. The melon-like Citron delivers heavy offense, while Laser Bean pierces through Shield Zombie shields and Star-Fruits can attacks rows of zombies at a time.

The zombies will be updated for the Future as well, but details on their abilities have yet to be revealed.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

I love this stupid game and I am looking forward to it. The future plants have been in the last few pinata parties and will be interesting additions.
