Gamers were none too happy when Atari announced RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 as a mobile game. Following the backlash, Atari went to Twitter to confirm that, yes, a PC game is also in the works. And it will be "completely different" from the mobile game.
"We can't share that much, but [PC] will definitely be a completely different game," senior director of marketing Anthony Chien told Digital Spy. "There's a lot of diehard RC fans that want a PC experience." However, PC players will have to wait until the end of the year, as Chien says "our strategy is mobile first."
The mobile game will implement free-to-play mechanics, even though it's being sold as a premium game. "The game will come pre-loaded with over $5 of in-game currency, with the value of in-game currency you're getting more than what you paid for," Chien described. The app will initially cost $3.
While the differences between the mobile and PC versions have yet to be detailed, Chien did confirm that it will be an "online multiplayer experience." Memories of SimCity send shivers down our spine.

So I'll only have the ability to work on one rollercoaster and I'll have to work with my friends through the online multiplayer experience to flesh out a full amusement park? This is, of course, assuming I am able to log into the online world as I'm sure it will be impossible to make the game playable offline.
