Wii U may be struggling to get the support of big-budget publishers, but Nintendo has started making important inroads with another source of games: indies. Thanks to Wii U's native support of the Unity engine, over 50 games are coming to Wii U.

Nintendo is showcasing nine different games on the GDC show floor. However, there are 50 more games "waiting in the wings."

"Over the course of this show, we have nine games on display," Nintendo of America senior manager Damon Baker told Siliconera. "We have 17 that are currently in the pipeline, that have been submitted. So they will all be out within the next two months."

"And then, we have another fifty that are waiting in the wings, that are coming; so we've got a lot of Unity content on the way," he added.

Call my cynical, but they can claim to have 50,000,000 Unity based games and unless a few them are killer apps, none of them will move the Wii U off the shelf.

See Ouya for more details. Also say "Ouya Wii U" 3 times fast.

they have to still pass Nintendo QA, unlike with the OUYA.

I love Nintendo, I really do...but it pains me to agree with this statement. Some of these would have to be KILLER games and more than likely exclusives or made so well on the WiiU that you must purchase them on their console.
This will be difficult, on the plus column this is good news for indies though and Unity as whole to be able to showcase what it can do.
