New Gauntlet coming from Magicka dev this summer
Warner Bros and Arrowhead Studios have announced a new Gauntlet, an overhead dungeon-crawler coming to PC this summer.
A new version of Gauntlet is coming from the studio behind Magicka, Warner Bros announced today. Simply called Gauntlet, the "modernized action RPG" take on the classic will hit Steam this summer. As in the classics, you'll pick from one of four classes and fight your way through scads of creatures.
The classes are a Warrior, Valkyrie, Elf, and Wizard. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses: Warrior does the most melee damage, Valkyrie is heavily armored, Elf is the fastest, and Wizard has the strongest magic. It's being modeled like a dungeon-crawler, with players tasked with fighting through monsters, unlocking doors, and finding loot.
SteamOS and Steam Machines support will come sometime in the second half of the year. Warner Bros also announced that Gauntlet will headline its "WB Games Vault" initiative, which will launch a series of digital-only games based on existing and new properties.
"To us at Arrowhead, Gauntlet is one of the most defining games from our childhoods, and it's amazing to be able to work with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on a brand new version," said Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt, in the announcement. "Gauntlet is one of the original and best known video game properties and we are looking forward to creating a fresh, yet true to the original, take on a multiplayer masterpiece."

Great that Gauntlet is coming back, this will surely was away the bad taste that the tragic Romero and Sawyer led Gauntlet from Midway left on mouths.
Also the Magicka guys are great, they will surely make the gameplay great like in old proper Gauntlet games.
But damn that game looks colorwise brown, dark and boring in the trailer. They should really make it look more colorful like old arcade Gauntlets.
