An HD remake of the homebrew Genesis RPG Pier Solar and the Great Architects is in the works, Most versions are slated for release on March 25, including PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Android, Ouya, and even Dreamcast. An Xbox One release is also in the works.

The original Pier Solar came out in 2010. Late last year, Watermelon successfully raised $231,000 on Kickstarter, topping its goal of $139,000. The extra funding helped provide stretch goals including the Android, Ouya, and Wii U versions.

The PC version is currently on Steam Greenlight (via Polygon). A Wii U version is due in April, and developer Watermelon has noted that the second-screen functionality from that version could make it into an eventual 3DS release as well.

I wish more indie studios made games for classic consoles. Working within those technical limitations can lead to some really creative ideas. All you have to do is source some copies of Bulls vs Blazers and Ken Griffey Jr.'s winning run, and you can have yourself a limited release after changing the EPROM's.

I would say Dreamcast isn't that odd choice for platform since this originally meant to be done to Dreamcast and all the other platforms came later through Kickstarter or other means.

Going to be quite a cool project, due to the dual screen nature, I'm very much expecting the Wii U version next month.
