MLB.TV will be available on next-gen consoles just in time for the 2014 season. Major League Baseball has announced that both PS4 and Xbox One apps will be ready "later this spring." The subscription service will also be available on PS3 and Xbox 360 as in prior years.

As usual, the Xbox One version will require an Xbox Live Gold membership, while the PlayStation 4 version will be free-to-access for all PlayStation Network members.

A premium MLB.TV subscription will be required to use the app, which grants access to every live out-of-market game on supported devices. This year's subscription will cost $130.

"We are excited that baseball fans will have even more ways to access and enjoy baseball games across the rapidly expanding universe of connected platforms and devices," MLB VP Bart Manning said in today's announcement.

Andrew Yoon was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.
