Star Wars: The Old Republic roadmap points to new storyline on April 8
Star Wars: The Old Republic is outlining its developer roadmap for 2014, with an all-new storyline set to kick off on April 8.
Just ahead of Star Wars: The Old Republic's Galactic Starfighter free-to-play launch on Tuesday, BioWare is outlining its developer roadmap for the upcoming year. Among the most noteworthy items on the Star Wars MMO's docket is a whole new storyline, set to kick off on April 8.
The Old Republic is tentatively targeting its 2.7 update to include two new story-driven Flashpoint adventures on Tython and Korriban. The Empire and Republic factions will confront each other directly and kick off a new storyline that will run through the remainder of 2014, culminating in a 'galaxy-shaking finale.' The game is also slated to receive 'the biggest update up to this point' with its 2.8 update on June 10th. Details are scant, aside from additional Galactic Starfighter ships and a new Nightmare Mode Dread Palace Opration, but senior producer Bruce Maclean promises to reveal more as the date approaches.
"There is one change to our development cadence I would like to share," Maclean adds on the SWTOR website. "In order to increase our testing time before Game Updates, we are going to move to a 3 week cycle between minor patches, instead of two weeks. While this does mean we are moving to a 9 week cadence for the major content updates, we feel the benefit of catching pesky bugs and improving quality is worth it and we remain committed to hitting our deadlines for all of our major content updates this year."
