Wonder Momo coming from WayForward

DuckTales Remastered developer WayForward has announced that it is working on a reboot of Wonder Momo, an arcade beat-em-up that never came to the states.

Ducktales Remastered and Double Dragon Neon developer WayForward is working on another classic revamp, this time of 1987's Wonder Momo. The beat-em-up was released for arcade and PC Engine (TurboGrafx-16) in Japan, but never came to North America.

WayForward director James Montagna tweeted (via Joystiq) the news that it's working on Wonder Momo, and a couple of (fairly small) screenshots can be found on the Japanese site. The new game will feature a storyline from the Japanese webcomic, and is part of a relaunch effort that will include an anime series planned for later this year.

The announcement didn't include any definitive word on whether this one will release in the states, but with a western developer behind it, that would seem to make sense.

Never heard of the game, hopefully they will splash out and release it on as many platforms as possible. Usually Wayforward's games are excellent.
