Minecraft for PS3 sold nearly a million copies in a month

In spite of having already been available on nearly every other platform imaginable, the late-arriving PS3 version of Minecraft has sold over a million copies. Launched on December 17, Mojang has just announced that the PlayStation Network game has recently sold over a million copies, boasting "that has to be some kind of record on PSN, no?"

The Xbox 360 version of the game has already sold over 10 million on Xbox 360, and even more on PC. Minecraft is so popular that the retail Xbox 360 version is actually one of the best-selling games of 2013, selling more than every version of Disney Infinity combined. Kids really love their Minecraft.

Next up for Minecraft is a PS4 and Vita version. Undoubtedly, we'll be writing a similar "it sold a lot" story shortly after its release.

  Is Mojang up to anything these days? Surely Scrolls and Minecraft updates/ports aren't the only thing they've been doing all this time.

    They are tiny so I wouldn't be surprised it's all Scroll's and Minecraft.

    Do they even do their own ports? I was under the impression that other studios were doing Minecraft ports at this point.

  Mojang is just printing money with Minecraft. So crazy that it still sells a lot on new releases even though the game is already a bit old, though still evolving.
  
  I'm wondering will this year see PS4, Vita and Wii U releases.
  
  I don't really actually get the point of a Vita release, it would make a lot more sense to make 3DS version since this is a game that would really benefit from the second screen and that it is a touchscreen. Minecraft on 3DS XL, now that would actually be a game I might buy. :-O
  
  Also really hoping that Wii U gets it's version also this year, the inventory and all that on the gamepad would be more than awesome.

    With Vita they can of course maybe do the same style as the Wii U version will be. Vita can be used as second screen to PS4.

    I thought they said no plans for Wii U version.
    
    I hope the next gen versions are the same size as the PC. The console ports lack so much :(
