PlanetSide 2 roadmap outlines six months of content
PlanetSide 2 has updated its developer roadmap and among the notable items is that the long-awaited Hossin continent is now tentatively set to arrive in May.
Sony Online Entertainment has been doing some housecleaning and reorganizing for PlanetSide 2 and has updated its developer roadmap for the game's next six months. The developers have outlined a tentative schedule of updates for the next six months of the game's life cycle, including a tentative May release for the long-awaited Hossin continent.
The updated developer roadmap currently looks like this, with several milestones tentative:
- January - performance improvements, Player Studio updates, spawn changes for both players and vehicles
- February - mission system update, Infiltrator class update, voiceover packs, camo bundles, death screen update
- March - outfit recruiting, outfit base capture refinement, Liberator class refresh, additional melee weapon customization, Player Studio attachments for the Harasser weapon
- April - Combat Medic class update, Directives (introducing session-to-session goals), integrated tutorials, new alert types, outfit leaderboards
- May - Hossin continent, continent locking, Sunderer vehicle update, Light Assault class revamp
- June - resource system revamp, new alert type
The updates will roll out over the course of PS2's recently-announced weekly updates.
One item that's currently not mapped out is the game's upcoming PlayStation 4 version, as SOE continues to keep developments related to the console version close to their chest.

The road map is less a road and more a meandering stream that only sees rain six times a year. Also I could have sworn they had an official sub-forum for implemented updates but it looks like that vanished. Just the road map and archives now. I hate shitting on the game since I honestly do love it and was a huge fan of the original, but SOE is pretty much going out of their way to piss me off.

Sounds fine. So one of the bigger changes coming (next week) is that ALL Sunderers have passive AMS equipped (IE it doesnt take a slot), so thats interesting.
They are also toying with the idea of squadmates being able to spawn in on Galaxies and Sunderers - so theoretically, you could have a designated squad Galaxy in which you could use to infinitely Gal-drop onto a base (for your squad, o course).
Some neat stuff all around. I work 3 PM - Midnight, so I usually miss the shackbattles.-

Galaxy spawning was broken in beta, which is why they removed it. A good compromise would be to squad/outfit Galaxy respawns with zero cooldown while the Gal is in friendly & uncontested territory only. That way, it could patrol outside the main battle, fill up with respawning teammates, hot drop somewhere in the hex and get the fuck out afterwords.
Would be a good alternative to Squad Beacons/Squad Deploy and Instant Action since all those are time-delayed.
