Don't Starve developer eyeing Vita and mobile releases
Over a million players have tried out Don't Starve so far, which is why Klei is considering expanding the survival adventure to more handheld platforms, like Vita and iOS.
Though the strange wilderness of Don't Starve is a lonesome place, it's become home to over a million players so far across PC and PS4. With such a large install base, developer Klei is considering bringing Wilson's harrowing tale of survival to new platforms, including iOS, Android, and Vita.
"We're investigating a proper Vita version [of Don't Starve] at the moment, but we're not quite sure yet," Klei's Corey Rollins told Edge. "Currently, a lot of people play Don't Starve: Console Edition using the PS4's remote play, and really enjoy it. So we're looking into a proper Vita release. As for iOS and mobile, that is something we've also been investigating and we think might work, but it's not at the front of our development priorities right now. It's still on our radar, though."
For the more immediate future, Klei is currently working on Don't Starve's upcoming autumn season DLC called Reign of Giants. Check out the teaser below.

Seems like a good idea, but I'm probably too much of a cheap bastard to buy it on Vita when I already have it on PS4 for free via Playstation Plus. It's certainly worth $15 but I can't say I'd have bought into Don't Starve's sado-masochistic style of play had I not gotten it via Plus in the first place. Klei would be smart to wait a while until Plus is no longer part of the current Plus IGC on PS4 and launch it on Vita with a tempting Plus discount. Myself and a whole bunch of Plus subscribers would definitely bite in that scenario.
