Capcom Vancouver has released a new title update for Dead Rising 3 to help zombie slayers prepare for tomorrow's "Operation Broken Eagle" DLC. The size of the update is... kinda big. It's kinda really big. It's 13GB big, to be exact.

"With all of the fixes and everything, it’s a large update of about 13 gigs," executive producer Josh Bridge told Xbox Wire, "but we really recommend getting it to ensure compatibility with the online players and all of the upcoming add-on content that’s coming out shortly as well."

The title update will feature a number of stability and performance improvements for both single-player and co-op. It also includes various other bug fixes, as well as a new impulse trigger feature that will notify players when they're running low on ammo.

Bridge also adds that Operation Broken Eagle's story-based mission will be single-player only, as will the missions for all subsequent DLC. "We chose to do that so we could really drill down on a single-player experience and really tell that character’s story," he said. "We see and know that everyone really loves co-op, which is why all of those weapons and vehicles and stuff you get in the episode can be brought into the main game for co-op as well."

The Operation Broken Eagle DLC is set to arrive tomorrow for $9.99, which will include the new single-player mission, five new weapons, one new combo weapon, one new vehicle, and a new outfit. You can also get this DLC as part of the game's Season Pass. If you want to pick it up on day one, you're advised to start downloading that title update now.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Best thing I can recommend is keep getting in cars and bumping him head-on. He'll take damage with every collison.

That is an awfully big title update. I wonder if this was content meant for the launch release but didn't make it. I can't imagine too many Xbox One users will be happy about that.

If it was meant for launch, this would have delayed the game significantly. There is also no shortage of content in the game, so I have no concerns personally.

yeah that is nuts. I think if you look at all of the downloads for say BF3... they might go over 13. But that was over a year. This is one big dump.

apparently it only increases the size of game by 2GB and overwrites the rest.....so not a big deal

That tells me someone should have a better binary diff tool. Not sure if that someone is Microsoft as I don't know the delivery process.

actually I have to agree. That sounds like poor management of their install/initial setup.

That's a tenth of my slotted usage. And would take me 8 hours to DL.

They're just packing in the DLC into the patch.

Quite a few games do this nowadays and I don't like it. Sometimes it's not trivial to expand a game with DLC that also has to be viewable in some fashion ie. seeing other players class models. Still don't like it when the game is mostly SP anyway. I think bundling the patch this way shows a lack of empathy of your customer base.

Loved this game until the 5.5GB wiped my save file setting me back to level zero with no collections. I was at least able to get a refund on my DLC. Just a warning to anyone still playing, if you are downloading and it says it's ready to play don't do it until it says 100% complete. Otherwise it will wipe out your save.
