Men of War: Assault Squad 2 invades February 20
Men of War: Assault Squad 2 may be the sixth in the real-time strategy series in five years but gosh, that just means more jolly war fun for everyone. Publisher 1C company today announced that this latest one, from the folks behind the first Assault Squad at Digitalmindsoft (and not some of the wonkier standalone expansions), will launch for PC on February 20.

The Assault Squad subseries doesn't strictly have a single-player campaign, instead focusing on AI skirmish challenges and multiplayer. AS2 introduces 8v8 competitive multiplayer and 8-player co-op. It also overhauls the game's engine a little, with multi-core support, UI improvements, a revamped AI, new graphics, and more. Several free new content releases are promised too.
Pre-orders are open now on Steam. It'll typically cost $34.99, or $39.99 for the Deluxe Edition, but there's a a 20% discount for buying now.

Did Assault Squad actually have "co-op" missions? The reason I skipped it is because it just seemed to have generic skirmish content (i.e. the same old capture the point objectives and such) rather than actual scripted missions with varying objectives. It seemed more designed around basic competitive multiplayer than the past games, which actually had proper co-op campaigns to them.
