Far Cry Compilation celebrates series' 10th anniversary
Far Cry Compilation will celebrate Far Cry's 10th anniversary by bringing Far Cry 2, Far Cry 3, and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon to PS3 owners on one single disc.
It's been ten years since the Far Cry series first debuted. Where does the time go? Feels like just yesterday I was just killing my first boar. But yes, ten years have indeed passed and Ubisoft is celebrating with a special PlayStation 3-exclusive anniversary pack called the Far Cry Compilation, which will include three of the series' best games.
Far Cry Compilation will collect Far Cry 2, Far Cry 3, and the '80s-riffic Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon on a single disc. All three games will come with their respective single-player, multiplayer, and co-op modes intact, though they will not include any DLC packs. Ubi says the version of Far Cry 2 included here is a "full digital re-master," whatever that means.
The Far Cry Compilation will arrive in stores on February 11, priced at $39.99.

I put like 60 hours into it. I would have finished it if not for the checkpoints. The continuously respawning, never stop chasing you, spot you from 1/2 mile out, never have anything cool, lazy to code, cookie-cutter-esque checkpoints. Those broke my spirit. If I could have blown through one at 70 mph and have them take some pot shots at me, but give no real pursuit? Yep. Awesome game.
But the fact that even if I meticulously clear every bad guy from end-to-end, loot everything, and blow shit up, I can look forward to the SAME EXACT ENCOUNTER IF I WANDER MORE THAN 50 FEET FROM THE CHECKPOINT. It doesn't even wait for a full in-game day! Ugh.

Game -> case -> garbage.-
You could blow through checkpoints if you wanted to. I never found them a chore though. really. I looked at it like Mad Max: The Game. When someone gave chase I would do a one eighty, slip into gunner position and blow them away. If I didn't want to be hassled by checkpoints I'd fast travel or take rivers since it was even easier to outrun people giving chase on rivers and the chases happened less frequently. I felt like I was alone in a harsh environment and loved that I had to fend for myself.
The gunplay was so great too. Guys flanking you, running from cover to cover, sliding behind things to dodge bullets. Every once in a while everything went south and you needed to recover and think on the fly. Such a rewarding game.
