A new title update introduces a brand new mode to Call of Duty: Ghosts. The new "Heavy Duty" mode increases player health, making COD multiplayer less a game of who-shoots-first. Infinity Ward is taking feedback on the mode, although most of the comments so far are focused on unrelated issues. The mode is available to all, as it's not DLC.
You'll be able to enjoy the new mode with the upcoming Double XP weekend, coming after Christmas. In addition, the latest patch introduces new loadouts in Infected mode, and adds squad points to each soldier for the first five levels of progression. Weapons have been rebalanced, and additional fixes have been added. TO read all the patch notes, click here.

I can't speak to this game in particularly, but in other "bullet sponge" shooters, the gameplay emphasis is placed on scoring headshots adding an extra dimension of skill to the game. This shifts the focus from "who-sees-who" first to who has the best precision and recoil control. This increases the shooting-skill element but it also decreases the tactical-positioning skill element, so it all comes down to a matter of preference IMHO.
Personally, I prefer more tactical games like Rainbow 6/Ghost Recon/SOCOM where situational awareness and tactical prowess rule the day, but to each their own, I guess.
