The Ridge Racer series is finally expanding to mobile devices. Namco Bandai has announced that Ridge Racer Slipstream will be available on the App Store and Google Play on December 19th.

Developed "specifically" for iOS and Android devices, Slipstream will offer a full Career mode and three different Arcade modes (Regular, Quick, Knockout) across 10 tracks, playable forward and backward. There are also 12 different vehicles, with over 300 customization possibilities (which will likely be monetized).

As is typical for mobile games, Namco Bandai also promises to have "regularly-scheduled content" in future updates, including a multiplayer mode not available at launch.

Here's a trailer:

Wouldn't say expanding as much as fallen to mobile. Its depressing for me, it used to be my favorite racing franchise.

I have an iPad. They are great for racing games, especially arcade racing games where extremely tight controls are not necessary. Tilt to steer is fun and works really well in RealRacing or Asphalt(Ridge Racery clone). I've always hated the tap>tap>tap turning done in Forza or GT games on consoles so personally I find the tilt to be way better.

I use a wheel and pedals for my PC racing sim iRacing.
