With Killzone: Shadow Fall taking up most of the attention for its arrival on PS4, it's easy to forget that Vita got a Killzone title of its own earlier this year. But Guerrilla Cambridge hasn't forgotten their handheld shooter and will offer free content for Killzone: Mercenary's multiplayer in the coming months.

According to PlayStation.Blog, two new multiplayer maps will be made available for free, following two other updates set to drop around January. The maps will come alongside new offline Botzone play for Mercenary and Guerrilla Warfare modes.

While you wait for those new maps to arrive, expect the first two updates to improve matchmaking, reduce connectivity problems, add an autobalance system, and free up 800MB of space by reducing the size of previous patches. The first patch is set to arrive soon.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
