With just a few hours to go before Xbox One officially launches, it appears Xbox Live service has gone down. At the time of publishing, the official Xbox Live status page says the service is currently "offline."
Initial reports peg the downtime starting about an hour ago, but it appears things are starting to come back. Xbox.com is currently working, for example. Hopefully, the servers will remain stable for the launch of Xbox One.

Happy to report that I was wrong in expecting connection issues with Xbox Live. Turned on my console around 1am Central Time and was able to download the update (~500MB) in less than 4 minutes.
Went on a downloading spree, Netflix, Hulu, Skype, Skydrive, Twitch, Youtube, Machinima, and Killer Instinct and they all downloaded extremely quickly; granted, most of the video apps were only about 30-50MB each and KI was about 3.3GB.
Hats off to both companies, the launches went smoother than anyone could expect, really impressed.
