Lost Planet 3 sales below Capcom expectations
Lost Planet 3 fell below sales expectations, according to recent Capcom earnings results.
Lost Planet is clearly an attempt to appeal to the western market, as Capcom keeps farming it to western developers. The strategy doesn't seem to have caught fire like the company hoped, however, as Lost Planet 3 failed to meet sales expectations.
The recent Capcom financial results state it plainly: "Sales of 'Lost Planet 3' (for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC) were below expectations due in part to intensifying competition in the European and U.S. markets."
Capcom itself isn't doing too shabby as a whole, though. Monster Hunter 4 for the 3DS was a monster success in Japan, and other titles like Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, and Ace Attorney 5 hit their sales targets. On the whole, net sales were up 7.2% from the same period last year.

:( that sucks, Lost Planet 3 made one of my top ten favorite games of this year it is an awesome game, the team responsible for it did an awesome job, by far my favorite in the series.
Reminds me of the same situation with Tomb Raider and Sleeping Dogs, any ways Lost Planet 3 is 100% worth checking out, I guess when I have time I will have to make a vid and show case it.-
Please make the vid! I tried one and two. One I never finished because some of the boss battles got too hard and I didn't have time for it. And two, more of the same plus a low FOV that really bothered me for some reason. But I feel like both were on the cusp of being good games and I'm hoping they addressed everything with No. 3.

I really enjoyed LP2, but that was primarily because of the full co-op play (story co-op + mech suits + that awesome train level - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RcuM1Pa5xM ) - the incomprehensible storyline didn't do much for it.
LP3 is completely different though, the storyline is actually decently-written and the dialogue makes sense. I agree that it was a pretty fun game that deserved a better reception.

It's too bad but I think they forgot what a bizarre, useless story the second game had. They really needed to overcome that to convince people this one was worth buying and I don't think they accomplished that. For the niche group of players who like co-op campaigns, they got rid of four player co-op so that's another set of lost sales.
