Ryse: Son of Rome's story trailer is a marketing pitch
Crytek's Xbox One launch game shows off its story, by talking about its tech.
Whoops, someone forgot to explain to Crytek that a "story trailer" for a game should probably focus on game's story. But when your story is pretty much the story of another popular video game series, it's understandable why you'd want to pivot.
Instead, this new narrated video for Ryse: Son of Rome showcases the many bullet points that make the upcoming Xbox One launch game. unique. Specifically, there's a lot of focus on the CryEngine-powered visuals, motion and performance capture, and the authenticity of the weapons and tactics used in the game.

Looks f-ing fantastic in my opinion might be the nicest looking next gen game, don't know why this "story" needed a negative slant. Queries about how good the gameplay will be, but i've heard good things since the notorious E3 demo. And this video shows they've made some graphic improvements since then as well.

Yeah how dare they release a kick ass trailer showing off their game, lets hate on it. Nevermind that it's the first trailer they've done since they've done the graphics improvement pass on the game engine.
I'm quite happy for Shack editorial voices especially commenting on things that are wrong with industry or slightly ridiculous like the recent delays of Watchdogs and Drive Club so close to release. But in general I prefer a positive spin on stories, is enough negativity anyway in comments and after all hopefully theres to systems coming out next month that are going to be great.

A lot of the articles on Shacknews are written in a sarcastic tone and they often make fun of the games, trailers, other stuff. I enjoy the writing style here on the shack and frequently find the articles quite funny.
You're being over sensitive and you're perceiving there to be bias where there is none. It seems many Microsoft fans have developed a victim complex and think every site is biased against Microsoft.

On another note, this snap to feature for the Machinima App on Xbox One looks very smooth : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mc_vUf1C8b8

Holy shit, what a terrible trailer, and the game/story looks horrendous (other than pure visuals). I mean, they sum up the entire cliche story in 20 seconds, literally (0:10 to 0:30, and some of that was irrelevant). Still, this was the lowest of the low: "The accuracy of the action is precise." Really? The accuracy is precise? Is this game all a big self-parody of some sort like blood dragon, or are they really that horrible at writing?
