Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy trailer shows 8 minutes of gameplay
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII may be the most-advanced FF game we'll see in the current generation, actually launching after the next generation of consoles, but it certainly still remembers the old ways. A new gameplay trailer shows eight minutes from the sequel-sequel, full of series touchstones like chocobos and fighting weird blobs.

The trailer also gives a good look at the improved combat system. It may not be quite as flashy as the real-time action-o-rama coming with Final Fantasy 15, but it's looking pretty good.
Lightning Returns is due February 11 on PS3 and Xbox 360, having suffered a lengthy delay.

yep, i need to do this!! i played the 13-2 demo and it already *felt* like more a FF game than normal 13. After playing the whole demo, i played it again, maybe 5-7 times and wanted to pick up the game.
IMHO, 13-2 is what 13 should have been, only playing the demo. eventually i will get it and play it all the way through.-
I feel like 13-2 is a much weaker game than 13, but I can't quite put my finger on why. I really enjoyed the characters and story of 13, but 13-2 feels like batshit insane nonsense most of the time, and the two main characters are both pretty bland. The villain is typical JRPG "mysterious powerful dude with unclear motivations" nonsense, and the whole jumping back and forth through time thing would've been interesting, had they managed to make any of the characters/story in each place worth revisiting and seeing how you could change things. Also, the music was markedly weaker, as XIII's OST is probably (IMO) one of the best the series has seen.
