Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut is set to arrive on October 22. Fans that have already paid and played the original probably don't want to pay for a double-dip. Thankfully, Square Enix has heard fan concerns and has promised that the PC version of Human Revolution can be upgraded to the Director's Cut at a discounted rate.

Square Enix's blog notes that players with registered Steam copies of Human Revolution can receive the Director's Cut for $9.99, which is half-off the game's full retail price. Players that own both Human Revolution and the Missing Link DLC can upgrade for only $4.99.

This deal only applies to the PC version of the game. Human Revolution's Director's Cut is also coming to Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Bah. Well that seems to squash my hope of the same thing happening on consoles.

This is at least one of the benefits of digital distribution. They know you own it and can't get rid of it and as a result they can give you discounts based on your past purchases.

Ozzie, I like your work here at Shack so I hope you won't be annoyed when I mention that you've spelled "paid" on the front page article as "payed."

Well this is a no-brainer purchase for me. I mean it already was on the "must buy" list, but it was going to be a while down the line if it was full price. But for $5? Oh hell yes, how can I say no?

I'm eager to see how much of the suck they've removed from HR. It was an enjoyable game but there were definitely parts which were lacking to say the least. The way they handled the "which ending do you want" bit was especially egregious.
