"Live life on the dark side and join Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader on a mission to attract Galactic bitizens, run intergalactic businesses, and build an all-new Death Star," Disney's announcement describes. "Construct unique Star Wars themed locations to attract iconic characters and species to your space station in this 8-bit style game."

According to Disney, the game will be available on "mobile devices" soon, which we're assuming means iOS and Android.

Would be cool if it wasn't going to be filled with IAP given the tie in

On the upside, at least they went with NimbleBit instead of Zynga.

Or some random internal/outsourced studio to ape NimbleBit's stuff... which is what I immediately assumed when seeing this.

Yeah but feels more like Nimblebit sold out. I mean people ragged on Rovio for doing it, so why do they get off easy?

So we're going to treat indie devs like punk rock bands now? We wish them success but if they're too successful we're going to shit on them?

Because they actually created some good games and have an interesting game that just came out. In fact their website doesn't even mention this.

So whats the big deal, its a side project to make some cash?

It's not, I'm just curious why people crapped on Angry Birds for the same reason.

Angry Birds is immensely popular, hence people enjoy crapping on it

Angry Birds in general or Angry Birds Star Wars in particular?

People shitting on Angry Birds in general may just be due to overexposure - you can't walk three feet in a Fry's without running into something with the Angry Birds license attached to it. But Rovio "selling out" was done on their third game - the Angry Birds RIO title.

People shitting on Angry Birds Star Wars in particular are probably just annoyed that Yet Another Thing is getting a Star Wars coat of paint on it. I mean yeah that ship sailed as soon as you saw Super Bombad Racing or any number of pieces of merchandise like Darth Maul with a sucker coming out of his head. But really the Angry Birds Star Wars games work just fine, and they're nowhere near as cheesy as that horrible Star Wars Kinect game with the Han Solo dancing sequence.

"the game will be available on "mobile devices" soon"

Umm, this is Disney. Devices, plural, means iPhone and Ipad. Disney has no love for Android. But, they're getting slightly better when they involve 3rd party developers.

Well since Tiny Tower was on Android, and I'd bet they're re-using the engine, the odds are a little better Android will get some love
