Grand Theft Auto Online launches tomorrow as a free update. But, when will it be available? According to Rockstar, they expect the title update to be available on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live "starting around 7AM ET" (4AM PT). Of course, it being a massively-anticipated launch, we wouldn't be surprised if there are some hiccups once the multiplayer mode actually launches.
Before Grand Theft Auto Online begins, however, Rockstar wanted to clarify their position on the mode's microtransactions. While it's true that players will be able to buy GTA$ with real money, "no one can begin GTA Online and simply spend a lot of money out of the gate to get a leg up," the company says in an official post. While the cash will come in handy in buying items, unlocking them is another deal. "You will have to earn your stripes and play to unlock access to the aspirational clothes, guns and other items."
Finally, GTAO takes place "a few months prior to the events of Grand Theft Auto 5's single player story." Good to know, especially if you've played through one of the game's many endings.
