Everything old is new again. In addition to getting Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie, X & Y will reintroduce you to some classic Pokemon as well. You'll get to choose an additional starter from the Red & Blue generation: Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. Of course, the three starters have been given an X & Y twist. Once evolved to their final forms, Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise can all Mega-Evolve using Mega Stones. Imagine if you could build a time machine and go back to 1998 and show off Mega-Charizard fighting a Mega-Blastoise... in 3D. Your teenage self would probably die, causing an irreversible time paradox.

Pokemon X & Y will be available on October 12. Two special edition 3DS XL systems will be available in September.

Huh, I got the impression that you would just be able to choose from all 6. Great new either way, definitely picking this up. I mean, I was going to anyway, but this just gets me even more hype.

So in a year they are going to release Pokemon Z (the Z shaped like a Pikachu tail) where you only get Pikachu and he will follow you outside instead of in a pokeball.

Alright, now I DEFINITELY want this.

Need some clarification though. The article says "You'll get to choose an additional starter" does that mean we get to pick one of the new starters AND one of the classic to have two in the beginning?

Yes. You have the original set of starters, and then you get to choose from the three OG starters.

        generally:

-1 of 2 diff ultimate pokemon
-some unique pokemon to each version
-usually a unique zone that plays counter, like white forest and black city
        -???
        -profit
