Team17 taking a break from Worms, teases new IP
Team17 is planning to take a break from Worms games, focusing on a new IP that may appear on next-generation consoles.
Worms has been getting quite a workout lately, but Team17 doesn't want to be a one-franchise studio. It's releasing Superfrog HD today, and has teased another new IP on the way.
"This is kind of a big, last Worms hurrah for now, and I think I can say that you'll probably see a new IP from the company in the next few years," lead designer Gavin Hood told IGN. "I assume we’re looking [at next-gen]. I mean, we've got next-gen dev kits and that, but I don't know what we're planning on doing."
That doesn't mean Worms fans will be left with nothing to do. Clan Wars, set to release on PC August 15, will have Steam workshop support along with post-launch support. Plus, Worms 3 is releasing on iOS sometime in Q3. "We're not planning on releasing another Worms game for a while," Hood said. "We're going to focus on this."
