Shadowrun Returns Berlin DLC aims for October

Shadowrun Returns may be out for PC and Mac (I completed it over the weekend: I liked the bit where I got a rad roboarm), but oh, there's still so much to do. Developer HareBrained Schemes dropped a dev update on Friday, with news on the Linux, iOS and Android versions, as well as the Berlin add-on campaign that'll be free to backers.

Developer HareBrained Schemes dropped a dev update on Friday, with news on its Linux, iOS and Android versions, as well as the Berlin add-on campaign that'll be free to backers. The blog post explains that it's working away on the Linux version, but "it's still unclear just how much more work is necessary. Some bits work just fine, see, while others make everything explode. "We're confident we can work through the various Linux-related issues, but it is going to take some time to wrangle them into submission." Also coming are the Android tablet and iPad versions, which had once been planned to launch alongside their grey box siblings. "We expect the remaining work on the tablet versions should only take a couple of weeks," it says, but they'll need to pass Apple certification so a date's not settled. It's not all ports, though. HBS released the first patch for PC and Mac on Friday, and plans more as needed. It's working on the Berlin campaign too, which will be free to Kickstarter backers but paid for regular folks. "Development of Berlin art is already underway, and our design team is also starting to prototype gameplay and mission ideas for the Berlin campaign," HareBrained said. It's aiming to launch the add-on in "late October," but until then enjoy this WIP screenshot:

Lots of extant content + no voice acting = faster production

Hope there becomes a large community of modders for this game. Am interested in making my own little cyber punk thriller story in it

I played through it this weekend. It was good fun, though now I really want to get back into a tabletop Shadowrun game.

Also, troll mages are sweet. Gotta love it when your heavy artillery can take point.

I've tried play-by-email/play-by-forum RPGs before. I've never been able to stick with them. Some kind of real-time chat thing might be better, though it lacks the physicality and contextual information of tossing dice and moving figures on a map.

I'd like to play as well. I guess we can add it to the list of Boston Shackmeet games. :)

Cool. Just slaughtered the last mission on my mage last night.

I was a little sad that the last mission was basically all combat with essentially no use for much else. I do enjoy a good bug hunt, though.

Also, 3 guys on overwatch 1 square away = lol.

I focus fired on the boss and that basically ended the match. Was like replaying the final mission of xcom and having a sniper kill the boss in one hit.

            For you, was the boss
            1) Crazy shaman lady
            or
            2) Giant bug queen thing

Because it was #1 for me, and I'm wondering if it's always that way, or if you get #2 if you don't do certain things. I ended up having to chase the boss around a bit and deal with some adds.

              #1
Is two possible? #1 could do crazy damage, not sure i would not focus fire in future runs.

I have no idea if 2 is possible, that's why I was asking.

I actually had more trouble with damage from the adds than from the boss. Once an AoE add turned up I had Coyote chasing the boss around while everyone else was dealing with the other stuff.

Boss didnt get to run. Coyote + double attack shot + haste = dead

Grant it I got lucky with crits but I dropped the boss in under 3 rounds.

Not gonna buy the dlc, I think I would have been better off downloading an emulator and playing out my nostalgia from there. Wasn't overly impressed, but am kinda curious what us "regular" folks are going to have to end up paying for the dlcs.
