Torchlight 2 digs up two million sales
Torchlight 2 hit 2 million sales over the weekend, Runic Games announced today.
Torchlight 2 has hit the two million unit milestone, according to Runic Games. The company announced today that it passed the mark over the weekend, less than a year after its release last September.
By comparison, the first Torchlight reached one million units within its first two years. Torchlight 2 matched that number after just over three months, and has now doubled it after ten months. Runic's latest dropped to five bucks last week on the summer Steam Sale, which likely helped push it over the top.
"I'd just like to say a big thank you to all the players who offered their suggestions on what we could improve, and who stuck with us and supported us during development," Runic president Travis Baldree said in the announcement. "It wouldn't have been possible without you, and we're humbled and grateful at your response."

Torchlight 2 is inexpensive and a lot of fun, and you can try the first section of Act 1 in Diablo 3 for free to see how you like it: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/diablo-iii-starter-edition-guest-pass
TL2 also has a demo on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/200710/

Yet another decent game unavailable on any console--and which has, since day 1, carried an MSRP of $19.99....!
If their profit is only $5 per copy sold that's a healthy little $10M net profit...in only 365 days. Had they been insane enough to price this @$60 then most likely they'd have lost money and been a long, long way away from 2M copies sold. Some developers--a few of them-- really get it. Best possible way to sell far more copies and get pirated far less is to *lower* the MSRP of your games substantially.
