Infestation: Survivor Stories has surpassed 1.3 million registered users worldwide, according to publisher OP Productions. The controversial game formerly known as The War Z seems to be doing well for itself, and is planning an add-on pack incorporating community suggestions for this summer.
GameSpot reports that, according to OP, more than 400,000 players log in per month, and 100,000 play daily. The average user is said to have spent more than 95 hours in the game.
The War Z had a troubled launch, having been pulled due to player complaints. Executive producer Sergey Titov apologized for arrogant responses, but the trouble didn't stop there. After relaunching in February, it was hacked in April. In fact, a Steam promotional spot for Infestation is part of what prompted a letter to Valve on its Greenlight program, prompting a response from the company yesterday.

I totally missed the controversy around the game, but I was aware of its infamy.
I went ahead and bought the game during the steam sale and paid $3.75 and
honestly I found the game to be fun. Its hard as hell, but I don't think as far as gameplay goes
it doesn't deserve 20/100 like some reviews.
