Halfbrick, the makers of Jetpack Joyride and Fruit Ninja, have announced their next game at PAX Australia. Colossatron: Massive World Threat has players placed in the middle of a battle between a giant robotic snake and the military, led by the aptly-named General Moustache, with the idea to cause as much wanton destruction as possible.

The debut trailer reveals some of Colossatron in action, showing off the main gameplay mechanic of matching red, yellow, and blue Powernodes. Match nodes will unlock new weapons and abilities and ultimately make the titular Colossatron bigger and increase his destructive capability.

"Success is measured by one key metric--dollars of damage caused," notes Halfbrick's announcement press release. "The more powerful Colossatron is, the more destroyed and the higher the score. Players can compare and even combine their destructive powers, with additional competitive and cooperative social features revealed soon."

Colossatron: Massive World Threat is coming to iOS. Release date and pricing have not been revealed.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
