Richard Garriott has released a video of the Shroud of the Avatar prototype he recently showed at the Rooster Teeth expo.

Shroud of the Avatar is three months into a planned 18 month development schedule, and creator Richard Garriott recently put together a prototype demo to show off what it's like so far.

The video lasts a full 11 minutes, narrated by Garriott himself. Though he cautions that this is in an early state, it's easy to see the seeds of elements for the final game like exploration, quest markers, and puzzle-solving. Check it out below.

I had really low expectations when I backed this, but it looks a lot like Gothic 3. I'm totally down for a co-op Gothic 3 with hopefully less clunky combat.

That actually looks really good. I wish they were able to show something like this during their kickstarter campaign. It probably could have helped them get a lot more funding.

Yeah a lot different than I expected, looks cool.

Those UI pouches... oh man, such memories of Ultima.

Yeah, thought I hope we can stay zoomed in all the time and not have the overhead map.
