Infinity Blade: Dungeons officially canceled
When developer Impossible Studios was closed in February, Epic Games said that it was putting Infinity Blade Dungeons on hold. Now, it has been revealed that the next installment of the popular iOS franchise was actually canceled.
When developer Impossible Studios was closed earlier this year, Epic Games said that it was putting Infinity Blade: Dungeons on hold. Now, Epic has confirmed that the project is entirely canceled.
"It was a concept that originated from Epic and was an idea that we were happy to support," Donald Mustard, co-founder and creative director of Epic subsidiary Chair Entertainment, said on the Epic Games podcast (via GameSpot). "But when the studio working on [Dungeons] was closed, the game was canceled. That's really all I can say," Mustard said.
Impossible was formed in 2012 when Epic scooped up former members of Big Huge Games after that studio closed, initially naming it Epic Studios Baltimore and handing it development of Infinity Blade: Dungeons. However, Epic said that this arrangement ended up "not working out for Epic" and cut the team loose.
However, Mustard said that the Infinity Blade series is far from dead, as Chair is planning "more games, more books, maybe even other products."
