The Bureau: XCOM Declassified trailer is more tactics than shooter

A new trailer for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified shows off its strategy roots, as the player proceeds through an enemy encounter without ever firing a single shot.

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified looks like a sharp period piece--sort of Mad Men meets X-Files--but what makes it an XCOM game? Just in case you were still skeptical about its series bona fides, 2K Marin has released a new trailer showing off the tactical options.

The "Call the Shots" trailer features the "Battle Focus" feature, showing our dapper hero winning an engagement without ever personally getting his hands dirty. Instead, he uses the radial menu to order his squad mates, and at times it looks a whole lot like Enemy Unknown as seen from street level. We pointed out these tactical options in our preview, but as they say, seeing is believing.

Wow - this actually looks pretty interesting now, at least from what I'm seeing. What a turnaround.

Will this have co-op play? It looks like it'd be a good fit, and that would be the last thing to seal the deal for me.

Refreshingly creative! I like relying on tactics, probably going to buy this one.

Wow, so did they see the success of the other X-com reboot and totally reboot this game themselves?

Pretty much. A previous trailer said that the game used to look more like X-Files than XCOM... looks like they remedied that.

They quit telling us what we should want and started listening to what we actually do want.

I highly doubt they were able to turn this game around in that timeframe. They probably went back to the drawing board long before XCOM: Enemy Unknown won its accolades.

I'm replaying the 2012 version and it's so good but there are so many little things that keep it from being great

I was one of the ones shitting all over this game, but this trailer does make it look like it's come a long way. Hope it turns out to be a good game.

It reminds me a lot of Freedom Fighters, which is most definitely a good thing.

Something like this or the SWAT3/4 games would have been best.
