Metal Gear Online being developed alongside MGS5
A new Metal Gear Online is in development alongside the Metal Gear Solid 5, Kojima has revealed.
Metal Gear Online is dead. Long live Metal Gear Online. Despite retiring last year, series creator Hideo Kojima says that a new multiplayer MGS is in development alongside Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
"Yes, we plan on creating Metal Gear Online," Kojima told CVG. "Multiplayer right now is being created at our LA studio as well as us. We're working closely to create a vast multiplayer for all the fans."
It sounds like the new LA studio is taking point on this project, with Kojima Productions in Japan overseeing it. The original Metal Gear Online was bundled with Metal Gear Solid 4. Those servers were shut down last September. Calling it "Metal Gear Online" implies an individual product name, but like the old MGO, this one could be included in the next full game release with MGS5.
