Last Guardian not 'on hiatus' [Update]
The Last Guardian has officially been put "on hiatus."
Following comments that The Last Guardian had been put on hiatus, Sony's worldwide studios head Shuhei Yoshida reached out to correct the misunderstanding. He says the game is still in active development, but not quite ready for prime-time.
"That hiatus term -- I'm not a native English-speaking person -- but that’s misleading," Yoshida told Kotaku. "The game is in active development. [Lead designer Fumito] Ueda-san shared updates a few months ago. Nothing has changed. My answer is, 'Yes, the game is in active development.' It’s not hiatus at all. But we are not ready to reintroduce it. When we are ready, we will do that. Please wait."
This followed comments from Sony Computer Entertainment America president Jack Tretton to Geoff Keighley, saying it had been put "on hiatus."
While Yoshida's words are reassuring, Tretton's comments must have come from somewhere. After a historically troubled development with multiple delays and admittedly slow progress, it wouldn't be surprising if the PlayStation 3 version, at least, has been scuttled in favor of PlayStation 4.
