Update: The Open Beta is now live.
Company of Heroes is launching its open beta test later today, developer Relic Entertainment has announced. You'll have roughly two weeks to survive the bitter Russian cold, as the beta is planned to run through June 18.
The open beta will let you tinker with six of the maps, in both competitive and cooperative play, and test the first 45 levels of the progression system. Your efforts won't be in vain, because you can keep your progression and unlocks earned in the beta so long as you purchase the game within the first 60 days. You'll have to play it on the same Steam account that you used for the beta, obviously. The full game is due on June 25.
"We have been working hard since the Closed Beta balancing and improving all areas of the game as well as adding new matchmaking servers," producer Greg Wilson said, in the announcement. "COH2 has had one of the most successful Beta programs we've ever run at Relic and the support of the fans has been a critical factor in making the game more balanced and stable for launch."
According to the Sega Blog, the beta is now live and can be downloaded through Steam,
