New Super Luigi U Japanese trailer highlights differences

A new trailer for New Super Luigi U shows off some of the differences Luigi's DLC will have from the main game starring his brother.

New Super Luigi U, the large-scale downloadable content for New Super Mario Bros U that has now been announced as a standalone product to boot, runs the risk of all Luigi-related properties: being overshadowed by its brother. Nintendo of Japan has apparently recognized this, and produced a trailer that shows off a few of the differences between Luigi's adventure and last year's Mario title.

The trailer (via Siliconera) shows that the clock has been reduced to 100 seconds, to encourage quick run-throughs of stages instead of the more slow and deliberate pacing allowed by NSMBU's much longer timer. Luigi also jumps higher, accelerates faster, and slides longer when braking than his more famous brother. The trailer also shows off some of Nabbit, the invulnerable co-op character intended for less experienced players.

shorter clock? sounds like a clever way to make the levels shorter...

The graphics style is still very cheap looking, and doesn't have a special quality feel to it, as the original 2d mario's did. It also doesn't have a coherent vibe to it, the design and art seems a bit scattered with a varying production quality level.
