Devil's Third still on-track, says Itagaki

Valhalla head Tomonobu Itagaki says Devil's Third development is "going along really well" and the studio is still talking to publishers.

Devil's Third has been awfully quiet lately, and certainly isn't going to make its previous target release of 2013. We've heard pieces of news around its rights and a tablet version, but otherwise the game has gone dark. What's the deal?

"It's going along really well," creator Tomonobu Itagaki told Japanese magazine Famitsu (via Polygon). "We're discussing things with publishers; we're continuing to expand on and deepen the gameplay. That's about the level we're at." Keep in mind, though, the game has been searching for a publisher since roughly this time last year.

He also offered some reassurance about the game's recent silence. "That's because we haven't released any information. It's like we're continuing to go along under the surface, waiting for the right timing to launch our missiles. Besides, if we revealed where we were hiding under the surface, it wouldn't be much of a war, would it?" He says it won't be shown at E3, but remarked that the freedom to work within his own style is "part of the reason I went independent."
