IW executive producer Mark Rubin said that the MW3 engine was pushed to its limits, and he was happy at the time with how the game looked. But the new engine uses displacement mapping and SubD to noticeably increase how good the visuals are. Now you can make that determination for yourself. What do you think?

      Welcome to 2009 COD.

      There's nothing overly impressive here.

Not horribly impressed. Nice little upgrades here and there, but not OMG engine update (like HL1 to HL2).

I liked the old CoD engine because it ran very smoothly. I hope they don't merely target 30 FPS for consoles and require PC gamers who want 120 FPS to have to invest in the latest and greatest hardware.

I can't imagine they'd go back to 30fps now, especially when it doesn't look like a massive visual upgrade. I also can't imagine they'll widen the field of view either, so that will help performance. 65 degrees or bust :(

They said in the video that they will have 60 FPS and low-latency controls. I.e., COD will be COD.

So we have all this wondrous techno-magic at our fingertips these days and it's used for what? To make another Call of Duty game.

      *shakes head*

Yep, it's a real shame that's the only thing it's being used for.

Smell of Roses would have been better, walk around the garden, appreciate different textured petals.

As other people have said, this is not an "engine" update. This is the EXACT same engine they have been working with, with a few new technologies programmed in and some higher resolution textures. There is no way on this fucking planet that this is a new engine. They really really must believe gamers these days have absolutely no technological savvy whatsoever.
