XCOM shooter has 'evolved'; new screen shows situation room
2K Games has finally revealed what we have known for awhile: The planned XCOM tactical shooter has "evolved," and an announcement on what is going on at developer 2K Marin should be revealed in "the coming days," perhaps as early as April 26.

"Announced back in 2010, the game has undergone an evolution since we last showed it to you at E3 2011," according to a post on the 2K Games blog, which included a new screenshot from the game. Apparently, developer 2K Marin has "refined their vision, and as a result the game has evolved into a high-stakes narrative experience imbued with core XCOM concepts." That evolution was probably due in no small part to the success of Firaxis' XCOM: Enemy Unknown. "We feel that the time is right to deliver a new experience within the world of XCOM."
It is quite likely that refined vision will involve a rebranding of the game to The Bureau, although not having XCOM in the title won't capitalize on the popularity of the franchise. So you can probably expect some sort of subtitle to be included involving the XCOM name.
