It's easy to develop a love-hate relationship with game demos. Sure, you can try a game early, but it also means that at some point you'll have to replay a section in the full game. Usually it's the tutorial area, otherwise known as the dullest part of any game. Fortunately, Soul Sacrifice is sparing us that minor inconvenience.

The PlayStation.Blog gives word that the demo, due out today, will transfer its saves into the full game. The demo includes the full first chapter, and is playable with up to three friends online or with ad-hoc multiplayer. Online play will be terminated on release day, for obvious reasons.

Since the demo save will transfer to the full game, that will help you chip away at its purported dozens of hours early. Playing the demo and transferring your save is also the only way to get a "Spirits Heart" gem that can summon a golem to fight for you.

"The number one reason for the Soul Sacrifice demo to have a lot of content was to show the users the full attraction of Soul Sacrifice," said creator Keiji Inafune. "We knew that cutting out a small section of the game and saying, 'Isn’t this part fun?' would not show the users the full potential of the game. So, we decided we want to provide, 'at the very least,' this amount of the game for the users. That is why, if you compare it to a standard demo, this became such a substantial piece. But we are confident that this will not become something negative where the users will feel like, 'We played enough.'"

The game is set for release on April 30.
