People have been awfully naughty abusing Diablo III's account rollback feature, which is only there to help people who've been hacked. First, Blizzard had to adjust it to stop babies feigning hacks to resurrect permadead Hardcore characters, and now it's making changes to stop charlatans duping items.

Unscrupulous sorts had been passing items off to their chums, reporting their account as compromised, then rolling it back to recover their gear. Perhaps they'd sell the dupes on the auction house, twink their friends out something fierce, or simply dance atop mounds of duped Stones of Jordan.

"Starting on Tuesday, April 2, all character equipment including weapons and armor restored via the Diablo III rollback service will become bound to the restored account," Blizzard explained.

"This means restored items cannot be traded with other players or posted on the auction house, but that they can still be shared with other characters on the account and sold to merchant NPCs."

Blizzard first introduced this policy on the Asian servers in December after a "noted rise" of false claims from crooks and cheats, and now it's ready to clean up North America and Europe.

That segue went down smooth, like a finely crafted simile involving aged burboun poured over greased silk. Smooth.

Glad to see they recognize this problem, I was getting tired of people in the auction house.
