Saints Row 4 not a reworked 'Dominatrix,' Volition says
Those concerned that the recently announced Saints Row 4 would be a revamped version of Saints Row: The Third or the cancelled expansion Enter the Dominatrix can rest easy. Volition says the game will stand on its own quite nicely.
Saints Row: The Third was due to have an expansion pack titled Enter the Dominatrix. However, that expansion was canceled to fast-track development of Saints Row 4. With the game due to arrive in August, less than two years after the last game, some have wondered: will the next Saints Row game have enough content worthy of a numbered sequel?
"We didn't want to make a 3.5, we aren't making an expansion pack," creative director Steve Jaros told Joystiq. According to Jaros, Saints Row 4 was already in production two months before The Third was complete. He also added that the studio had to "totally gut" and redo the story for Enter the Dominatrix to make it fit in the new game.
"So much stuff has been changed and thrown out. Even the best of the [Dominatrix] stuff that we liked and pulled into the game we still changed. Nothing was drag and dropped in."
