Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn benchmark released

Square Enix has released a benchmark test for Final Fantasy XIV so you can gauge whether your PC will be able to handle the workload.

Final Fantasy XIV is preparing to launch its beta tests, but can your rig handle it? The answer is probably "of course it can" for most PC enthusiasts, but just in case you have your doubts Square Enix has released a benchmark test.

The test puts your PC through its paces and assigns it a score. You're aiming for 2,000 or higher, which means you can run the game on default settings. The scoring can go up beyond 7,000 though, giving you some bragging rights if your PC can run it at max settings without breaking a sweat. Square is also careful to note that this isn't a trial version of the game and doesn't grant access to the beta; for that, you'll have to sign up like everybody else.

It doesn't look graphically taxing, so I don't expect many of us will have trouble with it.

I think this is to remind us that final fantasy 14: a realm reborn is a thing.

6496 for me. Which apparently means: "-Easily capable of running the game. Should perform exceptionally well, even at higher resolutions."

That was with everything maxed on i5-3570 @ 3.4 Ghz, 8GB RAM and GTX 660Ti

You have my rig except I just got a friend's "old" 660 ti so now I'm running them in SLI. So amazing!

Sounds good, did you run this benchmark? I'd like to know how much difference going SLI would make.

5322 for me, on everything to the max. Quote: "Easily capable of running the game. Should perform exceptionally well, even at higher resolutions."

It does make me wonder, though, where my system bottlenecks are located. I have 16 G of RAM and an i7 2600K. I was thinking of changing out CPUs to something a little newer, but I like the i7 and I put the gigantic V8 cooler on it, so I don't feel like taking it off.

graphics card obviously. games nowadays are almost always gpu limited. your processor is more than enough.

For example i have 5400 points with a considerably slower cpu (amd fx).

          I see. I have a GeForce GTX 570.

What is a good way to go from there?

Still a good card... for 10.000 points in this like the people up there you need a 680 or two.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/GPU12/372 here you can compare all sorts of video cards and also see how they perform compared to your 570. For a decent upgrade you'd need a 670 or better. Insert AMD equivalents obv.

6921 Max settings at max resolution. Only saw a frame dip in one shot. N'bad.

7565 with Geforce GTX 690, and all options maxed out. However, given there was no SLI profile, that was really only half of the card - so yeah, I think I can run this.
