Grand Theft Auto 5 landing on September 17
Rockstar has pegged the release of Grand Theft Auto 5 for September 17 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Mark your calendars, open world crime fans. Grand Theft Auto 5 has been given an official release date of September 17 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The announcement gave no mention of the rumored PC version.
Rockstar acknowledges that this is a delay from its spring release window, which it attributes to giving the game additional development time.
"Grand Theft Auto V continues to push the series forward in new ways; Rockstar North are creating our deepest, most beautiful and most immersive world yet," said Rockstar founder Sam Houser in the announcement. "We are very excited for people to learn more about the game in the coming months."

I'm concerned about that as well. IF a new console lands this fall, will current-gen games that slip into Q4 or beyond--GTA 5, Dark Souls 2, and so on--get unfairly overlooked?
I think big-name games like GTA and Dark Souls will do well. Not only do they have huge fan bases, but new console need at least 12 months to gather steam. You can only play the 1-2 quality launch titles for so long before you start hunting around for something to play on "old" hardware. But I do think the shininess of new hardware could put a dent, even if only a slight one, in the momentum of current-gen games. -

So they will be releasing this on the x360 and ps3 just before the new consoles are due out. That sounds like a great idea :)
Odds of xbox 720 and ps4t version at e3? Possible, more likely they hit a delay again but HAVE to get it out before the new console launch. What would you get gta5 or a new console and its new games? That had to have figured into this release date. -
People People People, think more clearly, remember God of War 2 for the PS2 - it came out RIGHT at the end of the PS2's cycle and I think the PS3 was already out - yet like most next gen console launches, the 360 and PS3 didn't have that much to offer, while GoW2 fucking owned assholes.
Seriously - this game is going to be a slick sendoff to the PS3 and 360. -
