EA and Maxis have released a new trailer for SimCity, showing off the extra features you get in the $80 "Digital Deluxe" edition.

EA and Maxis have already announced the digital deluxe edition of SimCity. But since showing is more effective than telling, they've produced a snazzy new trailer to display the features that come in the set for 20 extra bucks.

The $80 digital deluxe edition includes landmarks and city sets for Great Britain, France, and Germany, along with more buildings, vehicles, and an influx of tourists to your bustling little burg. You'll also get extra missions and achievements. The game is due on March 5. Check out the new trailer below.

I bought two WoW CE expansions for about that much, so yeah.

I paid $90 for DNF BOS edition.

I figured since it's probably the last game I ever buy physical retail I might as well go out with a bang.

Or a bust, lol. Still, to be able to say you bought DNF BOS is worth something.

I've just been inspired to wait until the deluxe edition is $10. Thanks EA.

I played the "beta" (if one hour of gameplay per city can be called a beta) on the weekend and as much as I enjoyed the game I will be waiting until they eliminate the "always online" requirement.

        ... or it drops to $10 ;)

I enjoyed the 1 hour "beta" as well, but I simply don't approve of this much content being kept from the original game unless you pay a premium, essentially a day 0 dlc that was ready when the game went gold.

That, and I'm concerned about what will happen to the game when the servers eventually go dark, like all games. If I want to pick this game up in 10 years, I shouldn't have to worry about servers being paid for and maintained by EA.

It's just some style changes and some special buildings - pretty useless crap. I bought the $60 edition.

I found the game to be really enjoyable. I will buy the normal edition as soon as I can and then perhaps the GB stuff once it appears as Origin DLC. ;)

I don't consider a stress test to be much of a beta at all... The global market didn't even appear to be functioning, so the only thing we would have been stress testing was the login server.

it was a limited distribution demo, IMO.

those are all pretty much cosmetic changes? Eiffel Tower and Big Ben are pretty cool, just not $20 cool.

Unless that digital deluxe is free of DRM, they can go fuck themselves.

I would order it if Gamestop sold this version since I have a $25 Gift Card. Seems like the only place to pre-order is from Origin though.

Thinking about preordering it at amazon, 60$ with a 20$ credit

On the regular boxed LE version - $20 generic Amazon credit with a $60 pre-order.

I miss when Amazon did that kind of thing more often! Used to get $20 credit with $60 preorders that dropped to $40-50 pretty regularly.

all of EA's games have activated on Origin since 2007 or so, Steam-style (which is totally what I'd be doing) but.. yeah, in .ca you're probably boned :(

I got an email that said I get $50 off my next purchase if I pre-order through Origin. While $50 at Origin isn't as attractive as Amazon or Steam credit, it's still almost a free EA game. And I'm sure they'll have a game at some point that I want - or at least a bunch of games on sale. I dunno though, I might wait until Christmas when Sim City is severely marked down.

it really is awful. Not only is it five $10 off coupons, they also have a ton of exclusions like "NO PRE-ORDERS" and "NO GAMES RELEASED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF PURCHASE." Oh, and all the coupons expire March 15... Sim City comes out March 5.

This version will have a shorter playable life than all the versions that have come before it, if only for the need to be logged into Origin then also bouncing off their always-on DRM.

I think I'll stick to singleplayer games that don't need to phone home constantly. Not like there aren't plenty of them out there. EA needs to clean up its act.

Despite EA's crappy track record, it was a bug that banned him and the ban was reversed.

The bug in question was already logged into their knowledge base before the date of his post, so it's not a "convenient" excuse by EA to save face.
