Elder Scrolls Online beta sign-ups open

The Elder Scrolls Online beta sign-ups have opened, and the form features a status bar that grants you better odds for selection the more information you fill out.

The Elder Scrolls Online has opened its beta signups today. Bethesda didn't reveal its plans for exactly when the beta tests would be rolling out, but the beta form gives you a way to increase your chances for selection when the waves start hitting.

The sign-up form says that the more fields you fill out, the better your chances, and it includes a status bar to show your current odds. It even has a field where you can argue your case for access to the beta. The beta will be partly to stress-test the "Megaserver" tech, which will let players join one large connected world.

"We're really excited to get the game into players' hands," said game director Matt Firor, in the announcement. "We receive invaluable feedback through the beta process, and that helps us ensure that the game will be one of the best online gaming experiences ever offered -- one worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise."

If it was first person only (like Mortal Online) I'd be a lot more interested.

But people like to be able to see their char and the cool gear they got on. I play Skyrim a lot in third person.

why do you care how other people want to play, you like first person then play in first person

Given that the single player games all have a 3rd person mode, that would be a strange design choice.

All the Elder Scrolls games have those options.

Not sure if this applies to you, but their FB page says that the form isn't working in IE and to use Chrome or Firefox. I just signed up (using FF) and it worked fine.

I signed up, though I put in none for both the guild name and guild website cause I don't have one. And seen your chances are better if ya answer all the stuff.

of course they will make more traditional ES games. This is a different team entirely. Though I would imagine the Skyrim team will likely make something else first.

Fallout, probably. Or perhaps something new. They're definitely not going to make another full ES game back to back, though I'd be as interested in a next-gen Elder Scrolls as anyone.

"We receive invaluable feedback through the beta process, and that helps us ensure that the game will be one of the best online gaming experiences ever offered " said every other mmorpg developer who now is f2p. Don't get me wrong I hope it is good. It's been a long time since a good mmo came around. Not getting my hopes up anymore though. Every developer seems to completely screw stuff up. The one shining light for this for me is having one world hopefully there won't be any loading zones. Load screens ruin mmorpgs. Asheron's Call had it right and is still today the best mmorpg that involves story line and pvp.

seriously? load screens? thats what ruins mmos?

I can't think of any open world game or MMO that doesn't still make use of loading screens at some point while traveling. This is such an absurd thing to complain about.
