Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel is a reboot with a new studio, new engine, and new story. Clearly EA wants to revitalize the name, so it's taken the next logical step toward that goal: hip-hop.

The company announced today that hip-hop artists Big Boi and B.o.B. will be featured not only for the game's official song, but as characters who play into the story as well. The duo will play Charles "Chuy" Randall and Anthony "Baker" Barnes, respectively, and will help the players take down Mexican drug-runners. You'll also be hearing their tones in the theme song, titled "Double or Nothing." Oh yes. This is happening.

If you pre-order from participating retailers, you'll also get a Hit-Makers Kit to play a Contract mission as the characters themselves, and get some "custom masks and weapon skins designed by the artists." This is on top of the Overkill Edition bonuses that you'll get for buying a copy of the game's initial run.

The game is due for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 26.

Oh, oh: you see, the kids, they listen to the rap music which gives them the brain damage. With their hippin’, and the hoppin’, and the bippin’, and the boppin’, so they don’t know what the jazz…is all about! You see, jazz is like the Jello Pudding Pop — no, actually, it’s more like Kodak film — no, actually, jazz is like the New Coke: it’ll be around forever, heh heh heh.

I want this to hurry up and come out and sell exactly zero copies do we can have EA realize that this shit just isn't going to cut it. Or, it'll sell and I'll be sad.

army of two came out around the same time as Kane and Lynch and I thought that was by far the better game. I found army of two to be boring and the "bro" co-op gameplay was really stupid

Army of Two was way better than Kane and Lynch to me. I enjoyed the first Army of Two and the co-op was a lot of fun. The bro stuff made me laugh just because of how over the top it was.

The first Army of Two was fine, especially because of the newish mechanics. This "Devil's Cartel" hip-hop thing just looks bad bad bad.

Elliot Salem and Tyson Rios are the Army of Two. I don't know what the rest of this bullshit is about.

Man, that game was so horrible.

Great for the novelty factor for about 30 minutes, and then goddamn...incredibly boring.

'Blood on the Sand' was hilariously great. The gameplay mechanics were functional and insane (buying verbal taunts for thousands of dollars? The fuck?) but what really made it shine... was the shitty writing and the banter.

I can't wait for this game.

The first two were some of the most fun I've had in co-op.
